The 13-year-old, who has not been named, only just started studying German at her school in Knin, southern Croatia but was by no means fluent, according to her family.
Doctors cannot explain the sudden shift. She has already been seen by specialists but no one has been able to explain what has happened. There has reportedly been a large degree of frustration on the part of the girl’s family as they can no longer communicate with each other.
Dr. Mijo Milas said: “In earlier times this would have been referred to as a miracle, we prefer to think that there must be a logical explanation – its just that we haven’t found it yet.”
The psychiatric expert also explained that there were cases described in literature of people who spoke ancient languages after waking up from states of unconsciousness.
