Actor Corey Haim, 38, Found Dead

Corey Haim, who rose to fame as a teenager in the 80’s, has been found dead at his apartment in Oakwood early Wednesday, reports said. He was 38. Haim was brought to the Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center but was pronounced dead. Police said Haim died of an apparent accidental drug overdose. Haim’s mother was reportedly at the apartment when the actor was found.

Police said an autopsy would be needed to determine the exact cause of death. Haim, who starred in the reality show “The Two Coreys” with close friend Corey Feldman, battled addiction to prescription drugs for years and had been to rehab several times. He became a heartthrob after appearing in the 1980’s films “Lucas” and “The Lost Boys,” where he co-starred with Feldman.

He starred in several direct-to-video films in the 1990’s, including “National Lampoon’s Last Resort” and “Snowboard Academy.” According to his official Web site, Haim has finished a soon-to-be-released thriller called “American Sunset.”
