The 15-year-old legal battle between the estate of Anna Nicole Smith and the son of her late husband, J. Howard Marshall, was decided by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals siding with the Houston jury–that the heirs of Smith will get nothing.
The court ruled in favor of E. Pierce Marshall, leaving almost the entire $1.6 billion to the son’s estate.
Kent Richland, a lawyer from Smith’s estate, plans to appeal the federal court’s ruling.
The former Playboy Playmate and model has only one surviving heir–her daughter Danielyn who was fathered by photographer Larry Birkhead.
The marriage between Smith and Marshall began in 1994 when Smith was just 26-years-old and Marshall 89. The May-December love affair did not last long as Marshall died a little over a year later. Smith died of drug overdose in 2007.
