Freelance illustrator Jason Polan has an ambitious goal: to sketch all 8,363,710 people in New York City. The endeavor could take him over 79 years … if he draws a person every five minutes. But the young artist from Michigan is determined.
Sketching every day on street corners and in fast-food restaurants, museums and the occasional baseball game, he is now nearing the 10,000 mark. “It’s a project I’m getting enjoyment out of as I go along. I know I am not going to finish but I am willing to work on it forever.”
