Paula Abdul is closing in a deal to join a new version of ‘Star Search’

Paula Abdul is on the final stages of closing a deal to host Star Search on ABC, according to Entertainment Weekly.   She might host or judge on the show, or even both. The channel however is not making any comments regarding the matter.

Star Search ran from 1983 until 1995 with Ed McMahon as the host. Alumni from that era are Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. A revival was conducted in 2003 at CBS with Arsenio Hall hosting but it lasted only for two seasons. David Archuleta was junior vocal champion in 2003.

Abdul left American Idol after eight seasons. She was replaced by Ellen DeGeneres.
