Clash of the Titans Tops Easter Box Office

Greek epic mythology movie Clash of the Titans ruled the weekend box office easily as it raked 61.4 million dollars in the United States and Canada breaking the Easter weekend record along the way.clash of the titans poster

The previous record was held by Scary Movie 4 at 40.2 million dollars way back in 2006.

Across the globe, the film’s 3D version contributed half of its sales versus the 2D counterpart.  It has worldwide sales of 108.26 million dollars. It also topped the movie market in 15 countries including Spain, South Korea and the United Kingdom.

The film is actually not a “real” 3D movie. It was converted from 2D as a nod to the frenzy of movie makers in joining the hype regarding films made in 3D. This is due to the success of Avatar which is now the highest grossing film of all time in unadjusted sales worldwide.

Incidentally, Avatar and Clash of the Titans share the same actor in the person of Sam Worthington who now plays the Greek hero Perseus.
